Company Profile:
Varian Medical Systems, Inc., headquartered globally in Palo Alto, California, is the world's leading manufacturer of medical devices and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions with radiotherapy, radiosurgery, proton therapy, and brachytherapy. The company supplies informatics ...
The maximum difference between the X-ray dose delivered to any two points that are equidistant and symmetrical about the central axis and within the central 80% FWHM (full width at half measure) region, measured at 100 cm TSD (target-to-skin distance) at a depth of 10 cm.  This specification applies to the radial and transverse axes of all square field sizes from 10 x 10 cm2 to 40 x 40 cm2.

The absorbed dose, including that caused by scattering, at the surface of the phantom or the patient's skin surface, usually on the radiation beam axis.

In HET, high-precision course of radiotherapy, generally used for treatments where lesions are small or very close to critical structures or organs. The course of a SRT treatment may be hypofractionated, with treatment delivered in 3 to 7 fractions (high dose/fraction). This can be compared to a conventional radiotherapy course of treatment where treatment is delivered over 30 to 35 fractions (low dose/fraction). Some new SRT techniques escalate the dose relative to a conventional fractionated treatment. SRT requires precise positioning of the patient and immobilization, and then monitoring during treatment delivery.

Industry:Medical devices
A collection of beams that can be treatment fields, setup fields, port films, or portal images. A session can contain one or more patient plans.
Industry:Medical devices
The orientation in which a patient lies on the treatment couch such as anterior, posterior, supine, etc. . .
Industry:Medical devices
A cross-sectional view of a patient’s anatomy from the patient’s side.
Industry:Medical devices
A user defined area on an image to be used during the matching process.
Industry:Medical devices
A method of treatment that uses a single, high dose of radiation to alter the tissue to cause necrosis or fibrosis. This procedure uses Gantry, and sometimes Couch, movement during the treatment to minimize exposure to surrounding tissue.
Industry:Medical devices
The property of spontaneously emitting alpha, beta, and/or gamma radiation as a result of nuclear disintegration.
