A change in aspect ratio. Anamorphic lenses sometimes squeeze a widescreen scene by a factor of two horizontally, so it will fit on a 1.33:1 aspect ratio frame. In projection, another anamorphic lens “expands” the squeeze (squeezes vertically) to restore the original aspect ratio. When a widescreen film is presented on television without being expanded, it is said to be squeezed. An unexpanded film print is said to be a squeeze print (the opposite is “flat”).
