Length of time of continual exposure of plant surfaces to liquid moisture. Leaf wetness duration is often related to plant disease infection periods. See Mills period.

In winds aloft observations using radio direction finding (RDF), the elevation angle below which errors in rawinsonde tracking caused by reflection and refraction are so great the resulting wind computations are unreliable. Limiting angles may apply to azimuth angle measurements if the azimuth angles are measured near structures such as towers or buildings.
Industry:Weather
Instrument for measuring cloud base height above the surface with light detection and ranging (lidar), using a pulsed laser and signal processing to determine the location of strong backscatter from the lower cloud boundary.

In the United States, a period of mild weather popularly supposed to recur each year, in later January; most pronounced in the Northeast and, to a lesser extent, the Midwest. The daily temperature averages at Boston, computed for the years 1873 to 1952, show a well- marked peak on 20–23 January; the same peak occurs in the daily temperatures of Washington, D. C. , and New York City. Statistical tests show a high probability that it is a real singularity. The January thaw is associated with the frequent occurrence on the above-mentioned dates of southerly winds on the back side of an anticyclone off the southeastern United States.

In India, a short-lived dusty squall at the onset of the southwest monsoon (April– June) in Bengal. It is attributed by Bn. Banerji (1938) to a cool dry upper current from the north or northwest meeting a shallow surface flow of warm air from the Bay of Bengal along a quasi-stationary front. It is similar to the shamal. The front advances northwestward as the season progresses, and similar phenomena termed loo or uala-andhi extend into the United Provinces and Punjab.
